Marketplace Policies
Bidder Terms
Effective Date: October 1, 2026
These Bidder Terms (“Bidder Terms”) govern your participation in auctions offered through FragranceResale.com (“Fragrance Resale,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).
These Bidder Terms are incorporated into and form part of the Fragrance Resale Terms & Conditions. Capitalized terms not defined in these Bidder Terms have the meanings given to them in the Terms & Conditions.
By registering to bid, placing a bid, using automatic or maximum bidding, or otherwise participating in an auction on Fragrance Resale, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agree to these Bidder Terms and our Terms & Conditions.
Before You Bid
Review the listing carefully. Check the fragrance condition, fill level, authenticity information, shipping costs, payment terms, and the Seller's return policy before bidding.
Bids are generally binding. If you win and any applicable reserve is met, you are expected to complete the purchase. Auctions may extend when qualifying bids arrive in the final two minutes.
Buyer Marketplace Fees may apply. Review Section 21 and the Site Fees page for the fee calculation.
This summary is provided for convenience. The full Bidder Terms below govern.

01.Bidder Eligibility and Account
You must have an eligible Fragrance Resale account to participate in auctions. We may require account, email, telephone, payment, identity or other verification before allowing you to place bids.
You are responsible for maintaining accurate account information and protecting your username, password and other account credentials.
You are responsible for bids and other auction activity conducted through your account, except to the extent otherwise required by applicable law.
You may not allow another person to use your account to circumvent account restrictions, bidding restrictions or these Bidder Terms.
↑ Back to sections02.Fragrance Resale Is a Marketplace
Fragrance Resale provides an online marketplace through which independent Sellers may offer approved new, pre-owned, designer, niche, luxury, vintage, discontinued, rare and collectible fragrances, testers, decants, samples, gift sets and other approved fragrance-related products (“Listed Items”) for sale.
Fragrance Resale is not the owner or Seller of Listed Items and is not a party to the purchase and sale agreement between the Buyer and Seller.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, Fragrance Resale does not take possession of, inspect, test, authenticate, manufacture, bottle, decant, package, warehouse, ship or deliver Listed Items.
Sellers are responsible for their listings, and Buyers are responsible for reviewing listings and evaluating Listed Items before bidding.
↑ Back to sections03.Review Before You Bid
Before placing a bid, you are responsible for carefully reviewing the entire listing, including where applicable:
- Item description
- Photographs
- Brand or manufacturer
- Fragrance name
- Fragrance concentration
- Original bottle size
- Approximate remaining quantity or fill level
- Condition
- Whether the fragrance is new, sealed, unsealed, opened or pre-owned
- Whether the item is a tester, sample, decant, miniature or partial bottle
- Whether the fragrance is vintage, discontinued, rare or collectible
- Known defects, damage, leakage or evaporation
- Bottle, atomizer, cap, label and packaging condition
- Batch code or product-identification information when provided
- Included box, packaging or accessories
- Shipping costs and methods
- Seller payment methods
- Seller return or refund policy
- Any additional terms disclosed by the Seller
If you have questions about a Listed Item, you should ask the Seller before placing a bid.
Do not place a bid unless you are prepared to purchase the Listed Item at your bid price if you win the auction.
↑ Back to sections04.Fragrance Condition and Fill Levels
Fragrances may be offered in a variety of conditions, including:
- New / Sealed
- New / Unsealed
- Open Box
- Pre-Owned / Used
- Tester
- Vintage
- Discontinued
- Rare or Collectible
- Decant
- Sample
- Miniature
- Partial Bottle
- Empty Bottle or Packaging
Before bidding, you are responsible for reviewing the Seller’s description and photographs to understand the condition of the Listed Item.
For partial or pre-owned bottles, fill levels may be estimates. Bottle shape, glass thickness, opaque bottles and manufacturer fill practices may make exact remaining quantities difficult to determine.
Fragrance Resale does not independently verify the condition, fill level, authenticity, age, formulation, storage history or other characteristics of Listed Items.
↑ Back to sections05.Authenticity
Fragrance Resale prohibits counterfeit fragrances and other counterfeit products.
Sellers who represent products as authentic are required to have a reasonable basis for believing the products are genuine.
However, Fragrance Resale does not independently authenticate every Listed Item and does not guarantee the authenticity of products offered by independent Sellers.
Before bidding on a fragrance, particularly a rare, vintage, discontinued or high-value fragrance, you should carefully review the listing photographs, packaging, bottle, labels, batch information and other available information.
If authenticity is important to your purchasing decision and the listing does not provide sufficient information, you should ask the Seller for additional information or photographs before bidding.
↑ Back to sections06.Vintage, Discontinued and Older Fragrances
Vintage, discontinued and older fragrances may change over time because of age, storage conditions, exposure to heat or light, oxidation, evaporation and other factors.
These changes may affect characteristics including:
- Color
- Scent
- Intensity
- Longevity
- Projection
- Consistency
- Fill level
- Packaging condition
Even an authentic vintage fragrance may not smell or perform exactly as it did when originally manufactured.
You should consider the age, condition, photographs, Seller disclosures and available storage-history information before bidding on an older fragrance.
Fragrance Resale does not independently verify storage conditions, age-related changes, formulation differences, evaporation, oxidation or performance of vintage or discontinued fragrances.
↑ Back to sections07.Decants and Samples
Certain Sellers may offer decants or samples when permitted by Fragrance Resale policies and applicable law.
A decant generally involves fragrance transferred from another bottle into a separate container.
Before bidding on a decant, you should review:
- The fragrance and brand identified by the Seller
- The approximate quantity
- The type of container
- Photographs and description
- Any applicable Seller terms
Unless expressly stated and accurately represented, a third-party decant should not be understood to have been bottled, packaged, authorized or endorsed by the original fragrance manufacturer.
Fragrance Resale does not independently bottle, prepare, inspect, test or authenticate Seller-created decants.
↑ Back to sections08.Testers and Promotional Products
Testers, demonstration bottles, promotional products and similar fragrance products may differ from standard retail presentations.
Differences may include:
- Packaging
- Boxes
- Caps
- Labels
- Bottle presentation
- Other packaging or accessories
You are responsible for reviewing the listing to determine exactly what is included before bidding.
↑ Back to sections09.Batch Codes and Product Identification
Sellers may provide batch codes, lot codes, production codes or other identifying information in their listings.
Such information may be useful when evaluating a fragrance, but a batch code or similar identifier does not by itself guarantee authenticity, production date, formulation or product history.
Fragrance Resale does not guarantee the accuracy of third-party batch-code databases or other external product-identification resources.
↑ Back to sections10.Seller Listing Information
Listing descriptions, photographs, fragrance information, condition information, fill levels, batch information, shipping terms and other information concerning Listed Items are generally provided by the Seller.
Fragrance Resale does not guarantee that Seller-provided information is complete, current or error-free.
We may remove, modify, restrict or cancel a listing when we reasonably believe that doing so is necessary because of an error, suspected fraud, authenticity concern, prohibited item, violation of our policies, technical issue or other marketplace concern.
↑ Back to sections11.Seller Terms
A Seller may include additional terms relating to a Listed Item, including shipping, payment, local pickup, returns or refunds (“Seller Terms”).
You are responsible for reviewing applicable Seller Terms before placing a bid.
Seller Terms are between you and the Seller and may not override the Fragrance Resale Terms & Conditions, these Bidder Terms or applicable law.
If you do not agree with a Seller’s applicable terms, do not bid on the Listed Item.
↑ Back to sections12.Placing a Bid
By placing a bid, you are making an offer to purchase the Listed Item if you become the winning Bidder.
You understand and agree that:
- Each bid you submit must be genuine and placed with the intent to complete the purchase if you win.
- You are responsible for reviewing the amount of your bid before submitting it.
- A bid generally cannot be withdrawn merely because you changed your mind, found another item, misunderstood the item’s value or decided that you no longer want the item.
- If you are the winning Bidder and any applicable reserve requirement has been satisfied, you agree to complete the transaction with the Seller.
- You are responsible for paying the Seller in accordance with the listing and applicable transaction terms.
- You are responsible for any applicable Fragrance Resale Buyer Marketplace Fee disclosed in connection with the transaction.
13.Binding Bids
A bid placed through Fragrance Resale is intended to be a binding commitment if you become the winning Bidder, subject to any applicable reserve price, cancellation permitted under these Terms, or rights provided by applicable law.
Winning an auction creates an obligation between the winning Bidder and Seller to complete the transaction according to the listing and applicable marketplace terms.
Failure to complete a transaction after winning an auction may result in account restrictions, suspension or termination.
↑ Back to sections14.Bid Retractions and Bid Errors
Bids generally cannot be retracted after submission.
If you believe you entered a bid because of a genuine technical or input error, you should contact Fragrance Resale as soon as possible.
Submitting a request does not guarantee that a bid will be removed.
Fragrance Resale may determine, in its reasonable discretion, whether a bid should be canceled because of an obvious error, technical problem, suspected fraud or other exceptional circumstance.
↑ Back to sections15.Maximum Bidding
Fragrance Resale may offer automatic or maximum bidding functionality.
When you enter a maximum bid, you authorize our bidding system to automatically place bids on your behalf up to the maximum amount you entered.
The system may increase your current bid by the minimum amount necessary to maintain your position as the highest Bidder, subject to competing bids and applicable bid increments.
Your maximum bid generally will not be displayed publicly to other Bidders.
If another Bidder has already entered the same maximum bid, the bid entered first may receive priority, subject to the operation of the marketplace bidding system.
If another Bidder exceeds your maximum bid, you may place a new maximum bid before the auction closes.
↑ Back to sections16.Bid Increments
Fragrance Resale may establish minimum bid increments for auctions.
The required increment may vary depending on the current auction price or other marketplace settings.
The bidding system will display the minimum amount required for your next bid when applicable.
↑ Back to sections17.Auction Closing Time
Each auction will display a scheduled closing time.
The displayed closing time may be extended by Fragrance Resale’s anti-sniping system as described below.
Fragrance Resale’s systems and records will determine the official time for bidding and auction closing purposes.
↑ Back to sections18.Anti-Sniping Protection
Fragrance Resale auctions may use automatic time extensions designed to provide Bidders with an opportunity to respond to bids submitted near the end of an auction.
If a qualifying bid is placed during the final two (2) minutes of an auction, the auction may automatically extend so that approximately two (2) minutes remain for additional bidding.
If another qualifying bid is placed during the extended bidding period, the auction may extend again.
These extensions may continue until no qualifying bid is received during the applicable final two-minute period.
Accordingly, the originally displayed auction ending time is not guaranteed to be the final closing time.
↑ Back to sections19.Reserve Prices
A Seller may establish a reserve price for an auction when that feature is available.
A reserve price is the minimum amount the Seller is willing to accept for the Listed Item.
If the highest bid does not meet the applicable reserve price, the Seller is generally not obligated to sell the Listed Item.
If the reserve price is satisfied and you are the highest valid Bidder when the auction closes, you agree to complete the transaction.
↑ Back to sections20.Winning an Auction
Unless otherwise stated, the winning Bidder is the Bidder with the highest valid bid when the auction closes, provided that any applicable reserve price has been satisfied.
After the auction ends, Fragrance Resale may provide the Buyer and Seller with information reasonably necessary to communicate and complete the transaction.
The winning Bidder agrees to communicate with the Seller and complete payment and other transaction requirements within the period stated in the listing or otherwise reasonably requested by the Seller.
↑ Back to sections21.Buyer Marketplace Fee
Fragrance Resale charges Buyers a Buyer Marketplace Fee in connection with eligible marketplace transactions.
Unless otherwise disclosed, the Buyer Marketplace Fee is calculated using the final item sale price.
For an auction transaction, the final item sale price is generally the final winning bid amount.
For a final item sale price of $10.00 or less, the Buyer Marketplace Fee is 15% of the final item sale price.
For a final item sale price above $10.00, the Buyer Marketplace Fee is calculated as:
$1.50 + 5% of the portion of the final item sale price above $10.00.
For example, if the final winning bid is $100.00, the Buyer Marketplace Fee is calculated as follows:
$1.50 base Buyer Marketplace Fee
+ 5% of the $90.00 portion above $10.00 ($4.50)
= $6.00 total Buyer Marketplace Fee
Accordingly, a $100.00 winning bid would result in a $6.00 Buyer Marketplace Fee, for a total of $106.00 before shipping and applicable taxes.
The Buyer Marketplace Fee is calculated using the final item sale price and is separate from shipping, insurance, applicable taxes, payment-processing charges and other transaction costs.
The applicable Buyer Marketplace Fee will be disclosed in accordance with marketplace functionality and applicable law.
Additional information and fee examples are available on our Site Fees page.
↑ Back to sections22.Buyer Payment to Seller
The winning Bidder is responsible for paying the purchase price directly to the Seller using a payment method accepted by the Seller.
Depending on the Seller and available marketplace functionality, payment methods may include approved integrated or third-party payment services or other payment arrangements permitted by Fragrance Resale.
Payment services may have their own terms, fees, buyer protections, eligibility requirements and dispute procedures. You are responsible for reviewing the terms applicable to the payment method you choose.
The Fragrance Resale Buyer Marketplace Fee is separate from any fees that may be charged by an independent payment provider.
↑ Back to sections23.Shipping, Delivery and Local Pickup
Shipping, delivery and local pickup arrangements are generally made between the Buyer and Seller according to the listing and any applicable Seller Terms.
Before bidding, you should review:
- Shipping charges
- Shipping methods
- Available insurance
- Delivery estimates
- Signature requirements
- Local pickup terms, when applicable
Unless otherwise agreed between the Buyer and Seller, the Buyer is responsible for any shipping or delivery charges disclosed in the listing.
Fragrance Resale does not take possession of Listed Items and is not responsible for packaging, shipment, delivery, loss, theft, delay, carrier rejection, confiscation, misdelivery, leakage, breakage or other damage occurring during transportation.
↑ Back to sections24.Fragrance Shipping Risks and Restrictions
Fragrances may contain alcohol or other ingredients that are subject to carrier rules, hazardous-material restrictions, air-transport restrictions or other shipping requirements.
Sellers are responsible for selecting lawful shipping methods and complying with applicable carrier, packaging, labeling and transportation requirements.
Buyers acknowledge that fragrance bottles may be fragile and transportation may involve risks including:
- Broken bottles
- Cracked bottles
- Leakage
- Damaged atomizers
- Damaged caps
- Damaged packaging
- Lost or stolen packages
- Carrier delays
- Carrier rejection or transportation restrictions
You should consider available shipping insurance or signature confirmation for high-value fragrance purchases when appropriate.
↑ Back to sections25.Returns and Refunds
Because Listed Items are sold by independent Sellers, return and refund terms are generally established by the Seller, subject to applicable law and any applicable payment-provider rules.
You are responsible for reviewing the Seller’s return or refund policy before placing a bid.
A successful auction purchase is not automatically returnable merely because you:
- Changed your mind
- Do not personally like the fragrance
- Decided the fragrance does not suit you
- Expected different performance, longevity or projection
- Later found the same or a similar fragrance at a lower price
- Failed to review disclosed condition, fill level or product information
Vintage, discontinued, pre-owned, partial, decanted, sampled or collectible fragrances may have additional return restrictions disclosed by the Seller.
Nothing in these Bidder Terms limits any rights you may have under applicable law.
↑ Back to sections26.Marketplace Communications
By bidding on an auction, you authorize Fragrance Resale to provide the Seller with information reasonably necessary to complete the transaction if you become the winning Bidder.
This may include your:
- Name or username
- Email address
- Telephone number
- Shipping information, where applicable
- Transaction information
- Other information reasonably necessary to complete the transaction
Information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
↑ Back to sections27.Prohibited Bidder Conduct
You may not manipulate, interfere with or artificially influence an auction.
Prohibited conduct includes:
- Shill bidding
- Bidding on your own item
- Using another account to bid on your own item
- Asking another person to artificially increase bidding
- Coordinating bids with another user to manipulate a price
- Creating multiple accounts to manipulate an auction
- Submitting bids without intending to pay if you win
- Using automated bidding software not authorized by Fragrance Resale
- Attempting to interfere with another Bidder’s ability to bid
- Attempting to circumvent marketplace security or bidding systems
- Using bids to manipulate marketplace prices or transaction history
Fragrance Resale may cancel bids, cancel auctions, restrict accounts or suspend or terminate users when we reasonably believe prohibited bidding activity has occurred.
↑ Back to sections28.Suspicious or Fraudulent Bids
Fragrance Resale reserves the right to void or remove a bid that we reasonably believe:
- Was placed fraudulently
- Was placed using a compromised account
- Was submitted in bad faith
- Was intended to manipulate an auction
- Violates these Bidder Terms
- Violates our Terms & Conditions
- Was caused by a material technical or system error
Where appropriate, we may also restrict or suspend accounts associated with suspected fraudulent activity.
↑ Back to sections29.Auction Cancellations and Corrections
Fragrance Resale may cancel, suspend, postpone, extend or correct an auction or bid when reasonably necessary because of:
- Technical problems
- Website outages
- Listing errors
- Pricing or bidding errors
- Suspected fraud
- Authenticity concerns
- Prohibited listings
- Seller account issues
- Violations of marketplace policies
- Other circumstances affecting the fairness or integrity of the auction
Where reasonably possible, we may notify affected users of material auction changes.
↑ Back to sections30.Technical Issues
Internet-based bidding may occasionally be affected by internet connectivity, device problems, browser issues, server delays or other technical conditions.
Fragrance Resale does not guarantee that every bid submitted will be received, recorded or processed before an auction closes.
You should not rely on submitting a bid at the final possible moment.
Fragrance Resale may take reasonable action to address a material marketplace system error but is not responsible for problems caused by your internet connection, device, browser, software or other systems outside our control.
↑ Back to sections31.No Guarantee of Seller or Listed Item
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fragrance Resale does not guarantee:
- The identity or reliability of a Seller
- The accuracy or completeness of a listing
- The ownership of a Listed Item
- The authenticity of a Listed Item
- The condition of a Listed Item
- The precise fill level of a Listed Item
- The age or production date of a Listed Item
- The formulation of a Listed Item
- The storage history of a Listed Item
- The accuracy of batch-code information
- The scent, performance, longevity or projection of a Listed Item
- The condition of bottles, atomizers, caps, labels, boxes or packaging
- Manufacturer warranty or other brand benefits
- The Seller’s ability or willingness to complete a transaction
You should use appropriate care when evaluating Sellers and Listed Items and should ask questions before bidding when information is unclear.
↑ Back to sections32.Fragrance Use and Sensitivities
Fragrances may contain alcohol, essential oils, aroma compounds and other ingredients that may cause sensitivities, irritation or allergic reactions in some individuals.
You are responsible for determining whether a fragrance or fragrance-related product is appropriate for your intended use.
Product descriptions, ingredient information, Seller statements and marketplace content are provided for informational purposes and should not be considered medical advice.
Fragrance Resale does not independently verify fragrance ingredients, allergen information or individual suitability.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fragrance Resale is not responsible for allergic reactions, skin irritation, sensitivities, property damage or other injury or loss resulting from the use or misuse of a Listed Item.
↑ Back to sections33.Manufacturer Warranties, Brands and Third-Party Services
Fragrance Resale is an independent marketplace and is not responsible for the operation, policies, warranties or actions of fragrance brands, manufacturers, distributors, retailers, payment services, shipping providers or other third parties.
References to fragrance brands, manufacturers, product names or trademarks are for identification purposes and do not imply that Fragrance Resale is affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by the applicable brand or rights holder.
Manufacturer warranties, guarantees, authenticity services or other benefits may be limited, expired, non-transferable or subject to separate eligibility, documentation, region or purchase-channel requirements.
You are responsible for independently verifying any manufacturer warranty, guarantee or benefit that is important to your purchasing decision.
Fragrance Resale does not guarantee that a fragrance brand, manufacturer, retailer or other third party will honor any warranty, guarantee or benefit associated with a Listed Item.
↑ Back to sections34.Marketplace Safety and Legal Compliance
Fragrance Resale may collect, verify, retain or disclose information relating to users or marketplace transactions when reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, investigate suspected counterfeit products, protect users, enforce our policies or comply with applicable laws and legal requirements.
We may require additional account or identity information from certain users or Sellers when required by applicable law or marketplace policy.
↑ Back to sections35.Suspension or Loss of Bidding Privileges
Fragrance Resale may restrict or suspend your bidding privileges if we reasonably believe that you:
- Failed to pay for an auction you won
- Failed to pay an applicable Buyer Marketplace Fee
- Repeatedly failed to complete transactions
- Engaged in bid manipulation
- Used multiple accounts improperly
- Engaged in fraudulent activity
- Abused Sellers or other users
- Violated these Bidder Terms
- Violated the Fragrance Resale Terms & Conditions
Serious or repeated violations may result in permanent account termination.
↑ Back to sections36.Indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Fragrance Resale and the parties identified in our Terms & Conditions from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs and expenses arising out of or related to your violation of these Bidder Terms, misuse of the Services, violation of applicable law or purchase, possession, resale, handling or use of a Listed Item.
↑ Back to sections37.Changes to Bidder Terms
Fragrance Resale may update these Bidder Terms from time to time.
Updated Bidder Terms will be posted on Fragrance Resale with a revised effective date.
The version in effect when you place a bid will govern that bid to the extent required by applicable law.
